On Saturday 22 June, residents of Uralla Shire will step inside the old URALLA COURT HOUSE for the first time following an extensive multi-year renovation project. A community open day is being held from 10am – 12:30pm as a fundraiser for Friends of McMaugh Gardens, Uralla’s 36-bed aged care home, with entry by gold coin donation.

Preservation and restoration of the 139-year-old Court House commenced in December 2021, with joint funding by the Australian Federal and NSW State Governments through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.

Built in 1885, the Court House is testament to Uralla’s importance as a pioneering trading post and gold mining settlement. The building features an impressive façade, the entrance steps, beneath the imposing high-arched Victorian portico, are made from local granite. Inside, the main court room features spectacular cedar panelling.
